Un grande dj, produttore e remixer a Torino, come regalo di Natale, per la serata “Vertigo” al Life, il 23.12.2016: David MORALES.

Ultimo ospite dell’Anno, ottimo regalo di Natale per tutti gli HouseLovers, in programma al Life, per Vertigo, la notte di Venerdì 23.12.2016, esattamente fra una settimana, David MORALES.

David Morales (Brooklyn, 21 agosto 1961) può essere considerato come uno dei Padri dell’HouseMusic, produttore oltre che dj di fama internazionale, è anche un ottimo remixer, infatti è stato nominato per il suo primo Grammy Award nel 1996 come produttore dell’ album di Mariah Carey ‘Daydream’ per la canzone ‘Fantasy’. E’ tato nominato di nuovo l’anno successivo e, infine, ha vinto il 1998 Grammy Award per “Remixer of the Year”. 

Cresciuto a Brooklyn, i suoi genitori erano immigrati portoricani. Sin da piccolo si intravede la sua passione per la musica, frequenta i party e i club storici di New York, in particolare il Loft e il Paradise Garage, dove conosce dj Larry Levan e dove inizia a sentire quel nuovo genere di musica chiamato House. Comincia la sua esperienza come dj al Better Days a New York, all’Ozone bar di Brooklyn e al Red Zone a Manhattan. Durante le sue serate, oltre a curare la selezione musicale, usando contemporaneamente tre giradischi e una drum-machine, realizza remix dei dischi che suona.

Nel 1989 insieme a Frankie Knuckles, un’altro dei Grandi Dj e Remixer House, fonda l’etichetta Def- Mix, che subito si occupa produzioni discografiche house. A breve si congiungono anche il dj Satoshi Tomiie ed Hector Romero. Una delle prime canzoni di Morales incinsa su questa etichetta fu “Find the Key of Your Life”: cantata da Cathy Dennis e prodotta per il soundtrack del film del 1991 “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II”. Nel 1993 pubblica il suo primo album “The Program”, che contiene i singoli di successo The Program, In de Ghetto e Gimme Luv. Nel 2004 esce l’album “2 Worlds Collide”, con le hits Here I Am, How Would U Feel, Feels Good, Better That You Leave. Nel 2005 Ultra Records rilasciato Morales ‘secondo album dell’artista intitolato “Two Worlds Collide”, seguito nel 2011 con “Changes”.

Ma indubbiamente il suo più grande successo internazionale è stato Needin’ u, https://youtu.be/2b6Lu8eEVgE e https://youtu.be/UyJb9Q9OwP8 del 1998 (basato sul campione della canzone del 1976 “Let Me Down Easy” dei Rare Pleasure).

Come remixer ha lavorato per i più grandi, e, alcuni mosti sacri, tra gli altri, per: U2, Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Jamiroquai, Björk, Pet Shop Boys, Diana Ross, Spice Girls, Aretha Franklin, Ce Ce Peniston.

Nel 2016 è in Giuria della terza edizione del programma di Italia 1 “TOP DJ” .
